Back in mid 1990's I got this Saturday afternoon job/gig/mc/thing at Centre Four in Leeds, and it still remains a bit of an enigma to me; looking at these pictures some 30 years later has not solved any riddles or puzzles. I mean it was a nice job, but I guess it was in the middle of my own kids' youngest years and besides that Saturday afternoons are Rugby days.

To put a nail in the time I do remember being here when Sheffield Eagles beat Wigan 17-8 to win the Challenge Cup and that was May 2nd 1998. I can't remember how I got the job (one of the bosses did go in the Darrington Hotel where I worked), and I can't remember how long I worked here, and I can't remember any names apart from was it Chris, the manager? Any help would be appreciated.

Really, these are not particularly good technically, but it was pre-mobile cameras so I have put them up for archive value and I want to chuck the slides away, (I will give them to a good home) so having them on-line and on my laptop keeps them alive, as it were. This set is more or less intact, bar a couple where the focal point is irreperably rubbish! Most have been cropped with an effort to leave in little details where they cropped up (I see I'd started stacking my CDs in sleeves rather than crystal cases - How did the record companies manage to get us to buy all our music again? And again again?? :) ) . I digress. I've tried to neaten up the pages so they don't take up too much space. All the photographs are in their original digitised format, so you can download them that way, I am pretty sure there may be methods of enhancing them already, that will only get more accurate as time wears on

I've just found this Centre Four FaceBook group, so you never know, somebody might get something from it.

If you recognise anybody, let me put their names under the photo

I went to Leeds University in 2001, Sheffied University for a PhD in 2004 and walked after being on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire in 2005. Sometimes I wish I'd made more of my life, but I hope/know I've done a great deal more good than harm.

Thanks to everybody involved, staff, guests, you were all pretty fabulous, and I was lucky. It looks like you loved it.
